FOLLOWING the recent terror attack on Paris, France, the French Government has declared readiness to synergise with the Armed Forces to tackle global terrorism.
France Director of Military Intelligence, General Christophe Gomer, who made this known when he visited the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Riku Morgan, in his office in Abuja, said terrorism, which is now spreading around the globe needed to be jointly tackled and defeated by all nations of the world.
The French intelligence chief, who said most terrorist attacks are not anticipated, said the phenomenon of global terrorism was gradually catching up with all nations that were napping.
“It’s something we did not prepare for, including developing countries like Nigeria.
“We have to evolve new ways of tackling them, stamp them out of existence.”
General Gomer, said he was visiting Nigeria for the first time to solicit for support from the Nigerian military in the area of intelligence sharing to wipe out terrorism which is now a global threat.
Receiving the French delegation, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Air Vice Marshal Morgan described the visit as timely as only synergy and mutual cooperation between countries was the only solution needed to effectively tackle the menace of global terrorism.
The CDI sympathised with the people of France over a recent attack by terrorists. “We as a nation understand the feelings that you are going through right now because we have the same nuisance in our hands.
